Rice Owls win!
I went to Rice Stadium Saturday night to see the Owls beat the UAB Blazers in a thrilling last-second finish. Sadly, there was no alumni beer tent. So I wandered around taking pictures before the game started.
Wooden sign just outside the stadium.
Tix were just $5 with a med center ID.
The Owls' truck boldly proclaims, "WE WILL WIN." I admit I did not believe it.
Did you know Rice Stadium hosted Super Bowl VIII in 1974? Well, now you do.
Going up.
Found me a seat.
Sun sets behind the home stands.
The crowd goes wild after the Owls score with 3.5 seconds left in the game!
The victory celebration.

Meanwhile we are experiencing some weather here in H-Town . . . thunderstorms yesterday, last night, and on into today have dumped over six inches of rain on us - pushing the bayous up over their banks, flooding parts of the city, and causing three fatalities so far. Some classes and meetings had to be moved due to a busted drainpipe in the basement of the building I work in. No damage on our floor though.

Cool pics! Not much fan support though huh?
Wish we could have had the same outcome score wise this past Friday.
Thanks. There were about 10,000 people there . . . it doesn't help that the stadium is so HUGE, a throwback from the days before Houston had a pro team. Also the Owls have not played many home games the last few years apparently, instead opting for the big money they get for playing big teams out of town.
I read PNG lost Friday. :(
One more thing Nikki - y'all should bring the kids sometime . . . they let the fans go out on the field to high-five the players as they come out of the tunnel before the game!
